I have an older 979 (probably among the first, because the guy I got it from got it second hand in 1980). It has exactly this seat lug arrangement.

A grub screw is either:
1. A screw that digs into the sliding piece of the arrangement, threaded through the fixed piece, to stop motion; or
2. An act of sexual reproduction involving grubs.
