That is the bottom line of the salesmen, promoters and Nannies. Sell helmets. Pump up their bottom line by selling the safety angle of the percentage of cyclists wearing them; good for PowerPoint presentations and Internet chatter. Measuring and demonstrating real risk reduction is not a consideration in the helmet hypester's sales playbook.
Note: Promoting replacing visually serviceable helmets due to
hidden degradation is just capitalizing on another built in helmet design flaw to join the user unfriendly restraint mechanisms. Either that, or a phony sales gimmick.
