I ran into a guy on a ride a few weeks ago. He was going on about his new vintage steel Tommasini and how he had contacted the factory to find out more about it and they traced the serial number and they found out his frame was not a standard model but had been built for the Tour de France. He said, "Just imagine what that makes it worth!" And Carl Sagan's phrase "billions and billions" popped into my head. All the while I was thinking that I had never seen or heard anything about Tommasini frames in the Tour de France, but that the way he was describing it did sound like many of the ebay descriptions I've read that tend to, shall we say, expand on the truth? Hmmm. I've only been following the Tour for 30 years and don't claim to know every frame that was used in it, but I've never seen a Tommasini in the Tour. Oh well, maybe it was a small Italian team that pulled out before the start.

Thanks for your replies.
