I bought a new Miyata 112 in 1989 in the Boston area. My understanding was it was near the bottom of their line. The original price was $600 (maybe this was list), and I bought it during a sale for $300.

Every spring I say I'll look into a new bike but after a few rides I stick with this one for the rest of the riding year. I estimate I've put about 15,000 miles on this bike and it is still all original equipment, except of course tires and cables. A couple of back wheels had to be replaced due to a couple of mishaps. I'm not a small guy and I like to push it for a workout, typically 20 miles per ride. Therefore, it is one very sturdy bike.
