I believe you can but you will need to put a spacer between the bb shell and the fixed cup to fill in the missing thickness. Shimano should include this spacer with the bb.

IIRC, these bb's come with two spacers. I'm pretty sure the drill is: use one on each side if you are using a non-e type fd and have a 68 mm bb shell. Use one on the drive side if you have a 73 mm bb shell and a non-e derailleur. Use neither if you have a 73 mm bb shell and are using an e-type fd.
