A good tip for problems clicking in

I tried a few drops of oil on the cleat and the pedal. That didn't work.
Then I tried a couple dabs of grease on the cleat and the pedal. That didn't work either. So an ex bike racer told me he used WAX (i.e. paraffin) to be able to clip in and out with ease. Well today I tried it, and it worked great.
