Flashing in sync is a VERY good improvement. Shouldn't be hard either, if they just use a single chip to control both; I got the feeling with the 1000 that they had two chips in there, it was just two 500s in one case.
I disagree - I never set the banks on my 1000 to flash in sync. I always set one to the whole row blinking as one and the other to either chasing or random. The difference in the flashing increases the eye-catchiness (observed from following other people with the same light)
