Instead of going hard for the hour. Take that same hour and do intervals a couple of times a week. Then in a month, do your same 15-20 mile loop and I guarantee you, you will be faster.

Do some research and find intervals that can raise your AT. A typical interval workout can be done in an hour or so including warm-up and cool down. If you can squeeze these in twice a week you will be ripping in 2 months.
