Your body will have enough readily available "fuel" (glycogen) to go a fair distance, depending on how aggressively you ride. The slower you ride the easier it is for your body to access fat stores for fuel. If you are going out "hard" it is difficult for your body to convert fat to easily used fuel and your "tank" runs dry earlier.
that makes it sound like riding slower will help you lose weight faster...
I can't afford to get a bike that's 5 - 7 pounds lighter, but I'd love to drop twice that off my body. should I be riding slowly?
