I climb with a 48x18T single speed track bike which I do centuries on. You are over-analyzing your equipment.
Maybe, but your statement above over-generalizes other riders. I bet I couldn't do this ride on what you listed. I bet I couldn't do it on a standard double. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean many others can.
