My hill repeat bike is a 39-22 steel single-speed. That's a lot lower gearing than yours, but yesterday I had it out on several 13%-15% climbs here in Austin, where I would drop to a 23 on my geared bike.
Admittedly, I cannont climbs hills >10% with my gear inch selection. But the point is, the body is very adaptable to whatever you can throw at it.
OP - I'm not trying to be rude... but your concern seems very trivial. Just do more hilly rides for training and don't sweat the details so much.
