I imagine we can get some kind of solution figured out in time. What about your commuter? What gearing is on it? Can it be adapted on the cheap?
I had 3 flats total. On the way in, while stopping for directions in the last 15 miles or so; was the first time I kinda showed off to someone about my ride. As soon as I walked out of the store, got on my bike, BAM!.

It was a tear right where the sidewall starts. When inflated, the tube would protrude through like a bubble. I stuck a dollar bill in there for the ride home, but it would blow every 40/50 miles (my luck as usual, once was during a ~45mph descent). Tried double-stacking the dollar bill, still blew. Then combined the currency with some electrical tape and it held for the rest of the ride, although there's a noticeable bump there. Will probably need a new tire.

About the commuter, it does have a triple, so it may be of use, but it's heavy and needs new wheels. Maybe if I put the Aksiums on for the ride.
