I've mentioned how wonderful my wife is in many posts on BF.
In the spring of 2001 I was wanting to upgrade from my entry level road bike ('99 Raleigh R600) to something a little better. One Saturday my wife and I went to a bike shop near where I was working (I'd hang out there at lunch time). We went in and looked around at all the road bikes. I was eyeing a couple of Treks and a Specialized. My wife wandered over to the Litespeed display (she had seen the Litespeed catalog near our home computer). She looked at the Tuscany, Vortex, and Arenberg (sp?) and said, "What do think of these bikes?"
My jaw dropped as I said, "They're awesome bikes but we can't afford those prices." We talked and looked some more but she stayed close to the Litespeed display. I couldn't decide on any of the Treks or Specialized so decided we might as well leave. To my great surprise she said, "We aren't leaving until you get a bike that you really like and want!"
Oh crap. What a decision. So I said, "Ok, I'd test ride the Trek 2300."
She said, "You really don't want that bike. I know you have your heart set on a Litespeed."
I got a stupid look on my face and agreed with her but mentioned the cost. She noticed that the bike was on sale (10% off) and the store was offering 6 month no-interest financing.
Long story short, I walked out less than an hour later with my new Litespeed Tuscany.

Since then my bike and I have covered many happy miles.
And my wife still tells me (when I'm headed for the bike shop), "Don't skimp, get what YOU REALLY WANT."
She definitely a keeper.
