Anybody go through a torn Meniscus?
Luckily, it doesn't bother me when I ride. That said, I am scheduled to do the El Tour De Tucson on November 17th and maybe the Lighthouse Century on September 29th.
My Orthopedic Surgeon has scheduled an MRI for Tuesday of next week to be sure of the diagnosis. Assuming she is correct, she wants to go after it arthoscopically as soon as possible.
She is a cyclist, however, and understands my need to finish these events.
My question here is, what is the typical recovery time from surgery to back on a bike doing 50 miles or so?
I am tempted to wait until Thanksgiving to get it done. However, if there is a decent chance of injuring worse by waiting, I want to do it sooner and get back to training ASAP. That will probably eliminate the Lighthouse Century though.
Has anybody been through this and able to provide words of wisdom? For what it is worth, I am 51, 260 pounds, and ride about 150 a week - a good mix of flats and hills.
Thanks,
Brian
