Here is a basic patent search at USPTO:

Give em a read and ask yourself if what you have is inventive. Even if you don't find anything .. you would likely have the application rejected for being an obvious improvement.

In the search results there are a number of patents on CVT gearing. IMHO that is were future gearing system might/should be headed.
