As well, there is no need for a license to drive or buy one and since there is no registration needed, there is no driver's test or aptitude test at all.

I ask because a couple of times now I have been riding along and one of these E-bikes comes right up behind me to pass and it kinda spooked me the first time because they are super-quiet and I just noticed it out of the corner of my eye and then, boom!, he was in front of me. I think these things are going to be a problem for cyclists. The people who use them may not understand how fast they can be and the government doesn't regulate them, so we might have some real idiots behind the wheels who may not be held accountable for their actions.
Yes, I've had a brush with a clown on a E-bike, in a bike lane. I challenged the guy to pedal the "bike", and received an offer of a shot in the face in return. They, (and the gas scooters), also make use of the post and ring lockups, which can be annoying. I sent off an email to Councillor Heaps, but I'm hoping there won't ultimately be that many of them on the street in the long run.
