OK, I'll buy into this concept. What I do can only influence a person's decision to change. It's a semantics issue, but you're correct.

You're making a big assumption about this driver. The possibility exists that direct confrontation might frighten her into a positive behavioural modification. While the reasoning behind that change isn't what I'd like to see, it could prove effective.
From personal experience, I can tell you that direct confrontation has caused a change in one particular driver's attitude (at least toward me.) After 3 days of catching flak from them during my commute and ignoring it, I blew my top on the 4th consecutive day. This was months ago, and although they have driven past me many times since then, I haven't heard a peep from them.

I'm not blaming anyone for the OP's actions (or my own actions when I've acted in similar fashion.) No one makes me yell at them. I choose to yell. I could choose to keep quiet. I could choose to stop riding my bike on the roads. I can make any number of choises based on the information I have and the situation I'm presented with. It's a fine distinction which gives me ownership of my actions, rather than subjecting me to the victim's role in a reactionary situation.
