Don't let the hills intimidate you, you're worrying too much about it. You'll have so much fun here, you wont even think about hills. I'm always on my bike and I love the hills. I've always managed to live on top of a hill, I now live on the very top of California Street. For the big walls like, Filbert in russian hill, Fillmore, pac heights, you can go a couple of blocks around and find an easier way. The blocks are somewhat short so you can just power up most of them. I get the biggest kick out of my wife who's 57 with some extra poundage, and she just jams up the hills. The longer ones are tough cause theres more time to go lactic. Legion of Honor and twin peaks, but well worth it when you get to the top. Either way you'll really love it here.
