There are a lot of decent places to live in SF. Which area to choose will depend on what you're looking for.
Like any medium to large sized city there are a lot of pro's an Cons for each neighborhood . Best way to find out which area is best for you would be to jump on the bus or bike around a few places every weekend or on your down time.
