Personally, I wouldn't buy a used gruppo unless I was darn sure of its mileage and history.
Or maybe I should say, I wouldn't buy one
again.
That said, the performance difference between 9 or 10 gears, or Ultegra and Dura Ace, is negligible for those of us in the "fast group ride" population.

I figure a used Dura-Ace 9sp group might be in the same ballpark (hard to tell because ebay's historical transaction search is limited to 3 months unless you pay extra). Advantages of new Ultegra 10: new!
Advantages of used DA 9: larger selection of wide range cassettes available for 9sp, lighter weight, potentially better shifting.
