Why are you worried about nutritional value during a hard ride? Sugar is sugar whether it's from cane or from high fructose corn syrup, and it's what you need to keep from bonking - and if you taste it, you know it is not as sweet as most colas and other flavored drinks.
Alcohol does, however, dehydrate you. What do you think a hangover is all about?
