I focus on speed, cadence & distance .. and I can't wait to get off the thing. I do always try to get in 75% of my normal after work loop(s) of anywhere from 60 - 120 min. It's tough as nails. Since you can't coast, it's constant pedaling, so I tend to think it counts.

I pass the time by watching t.v.. On some days, I have to get off the bike and hit the bowflex, then I get back on and finish the session; it helps break the drudgery. Besides, one main reason I bike is for fitness. It sure beats going to the gym (wondering why I still have a membership).

Basic Rollers really aren't designed to let you stand; I know some who do, but you can't simulate real standing and mashing unless you adapt your rollers to handle standing with an eMotion-like contraption or just buying an eMotion set of rollers (is it eMotion?)
