There appears to be this propensity for those who don't cycle in the U.S. to claim that cyclists are not athletes. Their ignorance may be excusable since cycling is not a major sport here such as baseball, football, basketball and hockey. I wonder what is the opinion in Europe? Do they consider cyclist to be athletes? Is cycling a sport to them or an activity?
