Which BROOKS would be best...?
We have a '69 Schwinn Deluxe Twinn - brown like in the catalog... We've not much concern for weight and have added a train of brass bells, d-cell powered xmas lights, a rear skirt, a golden cherub 'hood' ornament inner-tubed to a chrome generator bullet light, bells and the like... (how can you care about weight when the bike weighs as much as the stoker...)
Recently I put an old Brooks b-17 on my '72 Suburban (also brown) and wondered why I waited so long... Also recently, I rode a friends 50's/60's fat tire with a b-33 on it.
Now I am thinking of replacing the pleather Schwinn pains in the butt saddles with Brooks b-135s.
We've been known to do 30 miles on the Twinn Deluxe - and have sore butts on occasion doing less than 30. The bike sometimes serve as a designated rider mobile when we need to taxi intoxicated friends to nearby homes etc... I weigh in between 190 - 210 depending on the season and she 's less than 135... I like the idea of all that travel on the b-135, but does anyone think it's excessive?
I should also mention - we've klunkered down hills on occasion at speeds too much for the drum and front brake... At night... with trees... and beer... and once in the snow! and once with groceries in a burley trailer! and once in mud with pouring rain (okay, more than once)! That warrants two b-135s right? Or should we get a b-33 and b-135, or even less?
Thanks in advance...
