I don't think so. I did an experiment on a 2 mile, 10% climb. I pedaled at a constant power output and performed three mental imaging exercises: 1) concentrated on positive climbing thoughts, 2) concentrated on negative cycling thoughts, and 3) concentrated on dissociative thoughts. The results showed that although there was perfect correlation between power and speed, there was absolutely no correlation between mental imaging and climbing speed. The conclusion is climbing speed depends on power exerted by the rider independent of any mental exercises.
