Lbs Buys.
Ought to put this in very small lettering- I got a new top at the LBS- Been looking for one for ages and Nothing suited me and the Boreas. Anodised Bronze is a difficult colour to co-ordinate with. Its not like a white bike that is so easy to Go OCP with- Or a red or black one for that matter. Got one that feels right, good enough quality and------ OMG--- It may be classed as OCP. I'll have to cover it up with the pertex on future rides so I do not disappoint- or annoy - the Freds. No pics available so You'll have to spot it in my future pictures.
Another couple of Purchases and One was a tube for the Saddle wedge for Either of the road bikes- I did only have one and swopped it from bike to bike- but thanks to a worrying ride without a Tube and repair kit- I now have one for each bike. I am a bit concerned about having a "Naked" tube in the Wedge and that worry is that it could get a hole rubbed into it in the next couple of years before I need it- Any one any suggestions for protecting a tube in the wedge- and NO- I cannot leave it in its box as this is a mini wedge that will take a tube- repair kit- 1 tyre lever and a small multitool.
The other thing I bought- after 17 years of biking- is a chain wear checking gauge. Never had a problem with breaking chains- unless 2 in the 17 years counts- but I am a bit prone to wearing out Chain rings. Decided to get the Gauge so I could keep an eye on chain wear to cut out the expense of Cassettes and chainrings a bit. Easy enough tool to use but a bit worrying. Only 500 miles on the Boreas and the chain is measuring .75.-----.75 of what I do not know but when it gets above 1.0- You change the chain. Checked the Giant and this had a new chain fitted on the 8 speed Sora sytem before I went to France and that has had it. Measuring well over 1.0. So it looks as though the tool I bought to cut down the expense of wearing things out- is going to cost me 2 new chains in the next few weeks.
