Actually, my CAAD9 is very stiff where it needs to be, but the hourglass seatstays actually flex to absorb road shock, leading to a pretty comfortable ride.

This is what the OP was talking about

Carbon might not do that, but it's also very good at absorbing road shock due to its dampening qualities.
