beef by-products:
mechanically sperated, all the waste matter after the "good stuff" has been gutted, cartilidge, spinal cord, brain matter, hoves, etc. mixed with actual meat, fillers, sugars, fats pressed into circular patties= processed meat=cheap hamburger.
beef:
a cut of meat ground into hamburger = hamburger (which tastes even better than processed meat)
