U-Bridge to Eastlake and take a left on Lynn. Take a right onto Boylston. Go under the I-5 on Lakeview. When Lakeview meets Belmont, go *straight* (it's a dead end for cars but there's a short trail that will take you to Melrose). Melrose to Pine/Pike and you're home free.

I do the reverse of this from Pine to the U-Bridge every day on the way home.
