My main concern with the rear-wheel only method isn't the physical security of it (as I know how hard it is to cut metal under compression).. it's the mentality of the crackhead bike thief that I find a bit dubious. If someone in an "altered state" sees only the wheel locked, they might think it's insecure and wreck the bike trying to steal it..
