okay dude, i cannot say enough about dropping chainring bolts. this is how i totaled my old drivetrain. first one bolt drops, then the others loosen due to stress transfered to them. then another falls out, then another. your chainring at this point crushes itself into an oval, you chain drops and (in my case) wraps around a cog and a braze on. your cog gets rotafixed off, stripping the hub in the process and your axle is pulled forward on the driveside thanks to the braze on left behind the chainring from when your bike had gears.
but yeah, blue loctite worked pretty nicely for me for a while.
