update: the company re-structured in 1997.
Not sure how much it really means but my Aluminum Cinelli does say "Made In Italy" on the decal with the frame material information.

Edit: No matter where my frame was made, I absolutely LOVE it!!! It's one bike that has been in my stable while others have come and gone. It's definitely a keeper.
