Another approach to retention that caught our eyes was wicked racing's product. It's a modified front XT der. that has the chainguide plates integrated into the shimano piece. There is a second bracket around the BB for a roller. The claim is that they have never had a dropped chain, and while we're skeptical of hyperbole, we're anxiously waiting for ours to arrive in the mail to test out.
