I didn't say anything about the house analogy. My response was to wheels on a car. But now that I'm linked to the house example, What's inside the walls of the house isn't analagous to the OP's situation because the crankset and the wheels are on the outside and prominently displayed, unlike the thickness of the drywall.

The drywall analogy would be applicable if there was a change in the bike that wasn't open and obvious, for example if it was spec'd with ceramic bearings, and the LBS took the ceramic bearings out and put in steel.
