I think that the OP may have Shimano 600 "Arabesque" shifters. Those fit a non-standard braze-on boss, according to this thread (illustrated):

If that's what the boss looks like, then the only replacement parts that will fit, apparently, are Arabesque or Shimano 105 (Golden Arrow?)
