I've only actively engaged a car in-transit after being struck or having things thrown at me. I haven't ever keyed a car or done anything after-the-fact. I have followed people into parking lots or home to talk to them, but it's usually the insane grin and SUPER polite but very menacing niceness. The fact that I'm tattooed all over doesn't hurt. I have lots of people immediately apologizing when they get out or I confront them with what they did, and I always let that slide and end the lecture with "have a nice day".
