Oh, yeah, there's that pain in the arse Raleigh problem! If the existing spindle is in good shape, you can likely use it with replacement cups (but you haven't said if the existing BB needs to be replaced). I've also put MTB sealed BB units in 70mm shells with the extra 3mm sticking out of the non-drive side so that chain line is still okey-dokey.

Yes, the spindle is in bad shape. Bearings were non existant. lol
Bear with me, but where is the extra 3mm coming from? are mtb bb 73mm? I plan on making this bike a single speed, I know the chain line is supposed to be 42mm here. I'm assuming the chainline will vary per crank, which i don't have yet.
