I believe (but could certainly be wrong) that on a sealed 73mm bottom bracket (such as the Shimano UN-54), the extra 3mm is all in the plastic adjustable cup. Thus, you won't be able to thread it in as far as you would in a 73mm shell. Of course, you'll need to make sure you get one with a long enough spindle.
