I've had that happen. I used fibreglass strapping tape, carefully cut to the correct width, to cover the hole. Then a good rim strip on top of that.

That ought to work, but keep an eye on it. If the crack gets larger you'll need to buy a new rim and get a wheelbuilder to rebuild the wheel on the new rim.
