10 MPH hockey? I bet your hockey team doesn't win very often. The average skate speed is 22 mph. The max is 40 MPH on ice. That is about "bike speed" if you ask me.

Plus, the helmet is built for a high energy, winter sport. It even features an optional clear face mask that stops the wind as well as pucks going 90 MPH. Adjustable vents Might help keep you cool (I've never been too cold in a hockey helmet though)

Sure the foam in the helmet is thinner than a bike helmet's foam, but it is softer and the plastic part is much thicker. Maybe I've taken 1 too many headshots, but I betcha you would fair quite well crashing a bike in a hockey helmet. The distance to the ground is the same and the velocities are the same. The surface you hit is equally hard. The Bauer or Jofa will let you crash your bike all day long too.

As far as the dork factor: Look, I'm already the dam (sic) hippy on the bike in the snow with the neon yellow jacket, fenders and blinky lights. If they are not already laughing, I don't think a hockey helmet is going to make a difference.

I think I'll ride in with my hockey gear on on Halloween. I bet my fingers stay warm.
If I see you laughing at me, I'll hip check you into the fence along the MUP.
