One thing also to consider is that they don't use eyelets on any of their rims. Which WILL make a rim weaker. They deep Vs get away with this, because they're huge, but if you look at their smaller profile rims, they're gonna be weaker. Especially when compared to a double-eyeleted Open Pro.
Your right in theory...but you could make that part of the rim thicker. I haven't heard many complaints about cracked velocity rims, so i doubt that your concerns are justified. Many reputable builders use velocities and have no problems with the lack of eyelets.
