Hi, I have the opportunity to buy a Tour de France raced Gitane. The seller had worked with an ex professionnal racer called Bernard Vallet while covering the tour de France for two well know Quebec tv stations. Bernard Vallet gave him the bike. The bike had belonged to Jean Francois Bernard , a teamate of Miguel indurain on the Banesto team in the 1990 TDF. Please note that these informations are provided by the seller and I can only suppose they are true. The bike is equipped with shimano dura ace and the frame is reynolds. Now... the bike is not exactly cheap, the seller is asking $700 for the bike and will not lower his price. I am being offered some nice bikes at the moment and my bike budget gets thinner and thinner as I don't have the time to put the bikes I have for sale at the moment, so I have to invest money wisely. I have some questions to ask before deciding to buy the bike or not and would really appreciate your help. 1) are gitane very collectable ( I do know there is a market as I sold a gitane track bike for $1200 some time ago, but it was a track bike, after all,

) , is it worth it even without the ''provenance'' 2) will the provenance add a lot of value? 3) anyone has a picture of this gitane being raced? even if not by jean francois bernard, that would be great. Thanks a lot
This is the only picture I have to work with...
