I've had 2 freehubs die on me now ... the first symptom is an odd and annoying clicking/clunking sound ... the second is the wobble ... the third is the part where your pedals don't engage the wheel - you can spin your pedals all you want, but you won't be going anywhere!
No need to be stranded. Keep a half dozen zip ties in your handlebars. If your freehub lets go, get in your favorite gear, zip tie the cassette to the spokes, and you have a fixie that you can limp in to someplace where you can get things fixed.

Zip ties are very handy for a number of purposes.
