Did you buy a walmart bike? I would find it odd that a bike shop bikes brake system would do that or be adjusted like that

Another source for novice riders is the Boy Scout's manual for the Cycling Merit Badge. Good info on fitting bikes, servicing, riding in traffic and many other aspects of both recreational and utility cycling.
