At age twelve, I had a rattle-can painted Schwinn, with the curved top tube and a Bendix two-speed coaster brake hub.
It came with what I call Eagle Wing handle bars, bent so that the grips at the ends actually paralleled each other.
I turned them completely around, but not upside-down, so they looked like riser bullhorns.
I played with the angle quit a bit, and when I got it right, I discovered I could out-climb all the other kids.
I never forgot how well that bike fit, and when I got my Pista, I selected Profile Design Stoker Bullhorns, and started experimenting with stems.
I bought mostly cheap stems, with one frighteningly expensive exception, and otherwise spent more on stems than some people might think reasonable.
I've gone through six or seven stems; and now I think I've gotten as close to the Schwinn of my youth as I'll ever get.
The critter climbs like a bat and my hands and wrists feel happy.
