I got a Dawes Lightning 1200 from chicabike and it's a pretty decent bike. I can't remember exactly, but I believe my bike weighs 23-24 lbs which is slightly heavier than a somewhat similar Trek 1000 at 21-22 lbs but it's also $300+ dollars cheaper.

By the way, if you do get that bike or one from bikesdirect.com, people on here will call you a shill as they don't believe anyone can be happy on a cheaper bike.
