I have 2 bikes currently: both road frames, a 61 that fits perfectly, and a 59(?) that's just a smidge on the small side for me. The 61 is my nice-weather, go-really-fast bike, and the 59 is my rainy/snowy-weather, throw-it-around, cruise-home-from-the-bar bike. They're totally different rides, but I like them for different purposes.
On the 59, I have risers (un-cut), and my stem is raised up, providing a more upright riding position, great for hopping over curbs, negotiating rough stuff, and generally having a more bmx-y feel.
The 61 is set up with flip&chops, with the stem slammed, providing a much more aggressive/aerodynamic riding position, and giving me better extension all around. It also has a higher gearing, and a front brake. That's the zoomzoom bike.
What size you get, within your range of course, in part depends on how you want to ride it.
