Unfortunately, if you go with a bike that has a coil sprung rear end it will most likely have a 450 or 500lb rated spring. The shop could crank that baby down to stiffen 'er up but it would still feel wrong. At your weight you would need, depending on the bike, a minimum of a 650 rated spring to get the right feel.

Now if you go with an air shock on the rear it will be easier for the shop to set it up but at our weights the air shocks tend to not last as long but they have gotten a lot better over the years. You did say you are not very hardcore so an air shock could work for you as long as you do not start jumping and droppin' all the time.
