I still go for the ocassional ride sans the foam coffee cup strapped to my head.

However, I have yet to commute without one. With the heavy traffic, and really bad roads in Tacoma, I have found the extra minor bit of protection is worth it. However, I doubt a helmet would have mattered to that guy in Seattle who got run over by a dump truck. Poor Fella.
