I usually do that in notepad and save it locally - since ya never know when that 20 min post gets lost in the interwebs by a 'Server is busy' notice
groan....yes the 'server is busy'.
However, I have seen the ability to save posts as drafts as a feature elsewhere. MyBB offers this.
